Yeah, I think that is it. I use to do it without bobby pins or rubber bands, and the curl was looser. I liked using rubber bands but they'd get caught in my hair. So bobby pins were the better choice. I think if you put a bobby pin at the base of the knot to hold it, your hair will stay in the knot, thus, making then end result in curlier curls lol.

Are you twisting the knots tight?

I guess I make bantu knots kind of small, so I probably do 30 about knots lol. I also do it while my hair is damp, like after a cowash. I seal, and then put them in, sometimes I use motions wrap lotion on them. I use bobby pins to hold them, and keep them in overnight. It lasts 2 days 3 days max for me. But that's only because I'm a wild sleeper lol.
