There was a time during my transition when mine would look like junk too (around month 6 and 7). I usually do it on half dry hair, or dry hair and put perm rods on my ends (rollers should work too). And I usually put something like cantu butter and castor oil on my hair before I braid. HTH. . . P.S. Appreciate the MJ while visiting your page
