Some people just have sideburns. MJ and Elvis where tow people that had very thick sideburns. People like me, sadly, don't have any.

I was talking to my mom about it and she said that MJ had his sideburns cut into that shape and he then just had the hair gelled. Maybe that's something you can do. If you cut your sideburns into that shape, they'll keep that shape regardless if the gel gives out or not. Just, something to think about.

You're welcome. Make sure to come back and tell all about your results. If it doesn't work, we'll try and think up something else.

Have you ever tried applying only the gel to the sideburns and not the other products? If so, what was the outcome? It didn't hold? If it didn't hold with only gel on the sideburns, then you may need to try another gel. Maybe Let's jam hair gel will work. Although, it's a protein gel so you'll have to make sure to really moisturize your sideburns on wash days to combat the protein.

When you gel your hair, what products do you use before gelling it? What products do you use regularly in your hair?

The spritzer may help. Be careful not to use too much of it so that it doesn't overly dry out your hair. If the gel doesn't work with the spritzer, try a different gel like the eco styler from Sally's beauty supply.

Yes, but I'm thinking you would have to sew them in or glue them in a different way to get them like side burns....how long is your real hair?
