    Thumbs up Relaxer Stretch 09'

    Hey Ladies,

    Who's down for a STRETCH?
It'll keep your hair healthier, prevent you from overlapping that relaxer & for those of us with fine hair...THICKEN it up!
Also great for those of us who are currently Transitioning!

    Stretching Guidelines

Deep conditioning at least once a week or bi weekly
(Make sure to keep up your conditioning regimen. Pick a conditioner with protein and moisture and deep condition consistently, making sure to concentrate the product on the demarcation line. This will help strengthen that area and to prepare it for your next relaxer treatment. Conditioning will also help prevent dryness and breakage on the chemically treated strands).

Pre-poo'ing with oil will help to soften new growth ie...Amla oil/Shikakai oil/EVOO/Coconut oil

    Co-wash @ least once a week...
ie. Shampoo on Saturday, Co-wash on Tuesday.(You choose your days). The more days the better.

Clarify your hair @ least once a month.

Keep ends well moisturized and sealregularly.

Wear Protective styles 80-90% of the time.
(If you don't want to use heat on your new growth, try curly hairstyles. A tight roller-set with small rollers or a curly twist-out/braid-out is a great way to blend new growth with existing hair. You make your hair sleek and smooth by slicking hair back and covering with a silk scarf. You can easily twist, roll or braid the ends for a curly up do).

Use indirect heat instead of direct heat (rollersets, airdrying)

    *(2 heat passes allowed)*

No Trimming until the end of the challenge. If you MUST...use the "Search & Destroy" method. Thus eliminating split ends but, retaining your length.

Minimize manipulation of the hair (ie...no EXCESSIVE brushing, combing, etc...)

    Options for more growth...

Baggy at least x3 a week (if you are wearing a weave or braids w/extensions you don’t have to do this except when the weave or braids are out).

Scalp massage with oil to stimulate scalp and improve blood flow.

Growth aids (If using them please use them properly).

Take a Multi-vitamin daily. It not only helps with growth but, with your overall health.

    Let's do this!

I am down with this challenge! It's a perfect compliment to the APL challenge.

I'm sorry I meant 2 different conditioners to balance each other out.
The only moisturizing protein conditioners I know of are the mayonnaise conditioners and one made by Motions. I've never tried the Motions one but, the hair Mayonnaise are usually great no matter what company.
