Journey to Healthy Living

This is an extension of my personal blog. Just a space for me to share ideas, discoveries I have made and lessons I have learned on a wide variety of topics.

It is also meant as a place for me to learn and receive feedback and information so please, please, please share. I appreciate feedback, welcome information.

  1. Fat Smash Diet

Let's get right to the point with this one. Dr. Ian starts you off on the Fat Smash Diet with a 9 day detox. The detox allows you to eat all of the fruits and veggies you want. However there are some things that you can not eat such as bread, meat of any kind, soda, nuts, dried fruits and potatoes just to name a few.Dr. Ian also lets you know that in order for this to work you must work out at least 5 days a week for 30 minutes each day, and you must eat 4-5 meals a day. After the nine days of detox ...
  2. Product Review: GNC Womens Ultra Mega

My co-worker told me about the GNC Women’s Ultra Mega multivitamin about a year ago. I decided that I would give it a try b/c I knew that I needed something to balance out my diet. At the time I was on an all out binge and in the back of my mind I knew I was not getting the right amounts of vitamins, minerals and other things that I needed from the high fast food regime I was participating in.

As soon as I began taking the vitamins I noticed an immediate difference in the way I ...
  3. Travel: Haircare on the Go

My recent trip for Independence Day this year prompted my need to come up with a travel “hair care” plan.

I have been natural for about four months now and just recently began to wear my hair out on a daily basis. Before that I was all about Lace Fronts and Braids to keep my transitioning hair protected from “THE ELEMENTS” (meaning me).

The last time I travelled my hair was in a lace front and all I had to do was pack my normal tools, flat-iron, serum, comb, ...
  4. The Middle - The LOOONG Part

Ok, well this entry will probably have to be updated quite a few times. My reggies have pretty much remained the same with some minor changes:

    My Hair
    • Co-wash daily with NTM Daily Deep Conditioner with the orange cap and/or Garnier... (I am addicted, the Garnier products really do well with my 4a/4b hair)
    • Deep Condition Once a week. I rotate each week between Elasta QP DPR-11, NTM Mask, and Garnier Deep conditioner with EVOO and Tea Tree Oils added
    • Clarify with J&J

  5. The Beginning.....

Everyone has to start somewhere. I am thankful that I found BHP. After spending a couple months on other sites I feel like I have finally found a place where I can learn and grow on my journey to living healthy and taking care of myself.

    My Hair
Right now I am in the transitioning stages. I decided that I was tired of putting chemicals in my hair and wanted to do the natural thing. It has been about a year since I have had a perm and so far it has been a challenge (to say the ...
