Should I Trim My Hair Wet or Dry?

1.) Imagine cutting a wet piece of paper, and then cutting a dry piece of paper in the same way. You'll easily see that the cut on the wet paper is not a clean one. Your hair is really no different. Wet trimming can actually damage the (new) ends you create with the trim, leaving them more vulnerable to splitting later on. The damage is even more likely if your scissors are the cheaper variety, non-hair specific shears, or good hair shears that need to be sharpened.
2.) Hair appears much longer when wet. So, a dry cut or trim will give you a better feeling of the actual, final length result. If you trim wet hair, you'll appear one length while wet and then once the hair has fully dried, you'll see that your hair is typically much shorter than you would have expected due to shrinkage.

I just can't do a dry cut. I have never really been a fan of it. I know that I will have a better chance of getting a good cut with wet than dry hair. When its dry you can see the damage and won't cut as much as you need to for your hair to be healthy.

Hi Carolinagirl_22 Girlie, I use to do the samething with my hair, but to be honest, I decide to try the dry cut and what I did was to cut gradually until it grows out, so don't cut all at once it it bothers you as long as there is NO split ends - if there are split ends don't play with those get rid of them ASAP, otherwise you may have to cut off x2, x3 sometimes x4 as much if you did it earlier.
What I have learnt is that if we keep our ends well moisturrized we don't have to cut as often as we do, it is because our ends are dry then they become brittle and then starts to split as the ends are the oldest oart of our hair and we need to trim it as silk for it to last. Hope this helps xx |
